When we were first deciding what topics to choose and groups were being organized, as soon as I saw the topic on Aladdin I knew that was the topic I wanted to focus on. When I was young I had a Disney movie collection of almost every Disney movie. Aladdin was one of the movies that I wasn't as fond of mainly because I found it to be somewhat scary compared to a lot of the other Disney movies.
I also wanted to focus on this topic because my dad is from Lebanon, and therefore I am half Palistinian, so looking at the racisms and stereotypes that were portrayed throughout the movie was quite interesting, as I did not notice them when I was a child. My experience with this movie made me somewhat angry mainly because the stereotypes that are portrayed are irrelevant and discriminating towards Arab people, as it makes them look like terrorists and villians, when this is not the case at all.
After doing this project, I have learned quite a bit, and I have also really enjoyed working with my group, as we got along really well and created a great working environment.
